Hello All:
This year wraps in a few hours. Here’s my year in numbers.
317 Trips to the Gym
I’m addicted to Ultra Fit, and the numbers reflect it. In fact, last week, I led a small class at LifeTime because the instructor was ill. I won’t be quitting my day job, but it’s fair to say that I’ve picked up quite a few fitness tips over the past year.
42 Posts Written
Not too shabby, I guess.
13 Books Read
I didn’t meet my goal of 18, but I read a decent number of texts. Geddy Lee’s memoir was my favorite, and I also dug Gary Gulman’s debut effort. Here’s the list:
Side note: I helped my friend Jeff Pelletier release his first book.
5 Concerts
Cue Nietzsche quote.
Marillion counted as three: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
2 Awards Won
Project Management in the Hybrid Workplace and Reimagining Collaboration both won awards in 2023.
2 Offers to Write Books Declined
I could have signed deals to write two For Dummies books. I explain my rationale later this week on the Racket Publishing blog. In a nutshell, I just didn’t see the commercial possibilities of either title.
2 Proper Vacations Taken
I visited San Francisco to see my buds from Carnegie Mellon. I also attended my third Marillion Weekend in Montreal. (See concerts above.)
1 In-person Keynote Given
After only giving webinars during COVID-19, I returned to the stage in March 2023 in Washington, DC. I like to think that I did well, although typical A/V issues conspired against me.
1 Book Released
This year saw the release of my fourteenth book, The Nine: The Tectonic Forces Reshaping the Workplace. I don’t plan on penning #15 in 2024. Instead, I’m going to focus on helping first-time authors turn their ideas into professional books. Click here if you’d like to learn more. Also, LMK if you’d like a signed copy of my latest opus.
1 Other Book Released via Racket Publishing
This year marked the release of the first Racket title not written by me. Reimagining Payments finally dropped earlier this month. Michelle Gitlitz couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. I’m happy for my client and friend.
1 Website Rebuild
My site had become way too slow and complicated to maintain, so I decided to blow it up.
1 Speaker Sizzle Reel
I finally got around to creating one in 2023. Go nuts.
0 Cases of COVID
I’ll attribute this fortunate turn of events to vaccines, boosters, decent health, wearing masks on planes, and a fair bit of luck.
We’ll see what 2024 holds for us.
That’s it, y’all.
Happy New Year!
What a year! Well done!
